According to ABC News, Claudettia Love is a senior and top student at the high school who was going to go to prom with a group of friends.
Now, she thinks the school was using her for good grades and high test scores because they won't let her attend prom how she wants to.

"I told my mom, 'They're using me. They put me in all these honors and advanced placement classes so I can take all of these tests and get good grades and better the school, but when it's time for me to celebrate the fact that I've accomplished what I need to accomplish and I'm about to graduate, they don't want to let me do it, the way I want to,'" she said.
According to principal Patrick Taylor, the decision is due to the school's dress code and not anything personal.
But the school board President Rodney McFarland said otherwise.
"Banning her from her prom just because of what she wants to wear - that's discrimination," he said. "As far as I know there is no Monroe City School Board policy saying what someone has to wear to attend the prom. You can't just go making up policies."
McFarland plans to speak to Superintendent Brent Vidrine to speak with Taylor regarding the discrepancies.
Love's grandmother, Geraldine Jackson, told Taylor that the faculty members said they wouldn't chaperon the prom if the girls wore tuxedos.
"That's his exact words. 'Girls wear dresses and boys wear tuxes, and that's the way it is,'" she said.
Love not only is a top student, she was also one of a group of students last year that were presented in a Monroe City School Board meeting as part of the schools' high achieving medical magnet programs. She will also be representing the school as the annual Scholar's banquet and has a full ride to Jackson State University.
