Katie Holmes Takes Daughter Suri To $40,000-Per-Year School [PHOTOS]
Katie Holmes and daughter Suri Cruise are all settled into their New York City home, and Suri made it official this month by starting school in the city.
Photographers spotted Holmes picking up Suri from the Avenues school in Chelsea on Tuesday. The 6-year-old looked a little exhausted as she made her way home in her school uniform, a white shirt and dark shirt and socks, which she topped off with a pink coat and orange headband.

Holmes was dressed in head-to-toe black, and she carried a black snakeskin handbag with her.
Suri's schooling carries quite the price tag. Tuition for the prestigious Avenues academy runs at $39,750 per year. The school, which is located just blocks away from Holmes' apartment building in Chelsea, is brand new. Avenues opened its doors this year to 700 students.
Suri was originally expected to attend a Catholic school, which would have been at odds with her father Tom Cruise's religion of Scientology, but Holmes chose Avenues instead.
The school boasts many amenities, including a rooftop playground and a gym with volleyball and basketball courts. A source close to Holmes said she talked with Suri about all the school's facilities over the last few weeks to get her daughter excited about attending.
"Katie has eagerly been telling Suri all about the lunchrooms, basketball courts and different activities Avenues offers. Suri's really excited about it," the source said.
Since Holmes divorced Tom Cruise and moved to New York City, Suri has been seeing plenty of her mom but none of her dad. Suri and Cruise have not seen each other for more than two months while Cruise has been shooting a film in London.
"Suri is used to her dad being away filming and not spending every single day with him. She loves the daddy-daughter time they get together," a source said. "She always spent time with him either on set or at home and even on vacation, so she's really adjusted well."
