'Jurassic Park 4' Spoilers: Director Miffed About Reported Writing Credits Dispute Over 'Jurassic World' [VIDEO]
A recent report revealed that there had been a dispute about the writing credits for Jurassic World as Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, the writers of the original screenplay were fighting to get their due.
T-Rex Vs. Indominus Rex In Jurassic World?
Deadline had reported about the arbitration stating that Univeral and left Jaffa and Silver out and was crediting the movie's writing to Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. Turns out that is not the case and all four -- Jaffa, Silver, Trevorrow and Connolly -- will be credited. Trevorrow actually spoke to Deadline to clarify that they had things mixed up, and also that he disapproved of the publication's coverage. He stated that he reserved "disdain for the arbitration process and the ugliness it often breeds."
Here's what the director had to say about the entire issue:
Jeff Goldblum To Appear In Jurassic World?
"As I left our scoring session today, I was met by another story about the ongoing arbitration on Jurassic World," Trevorrow said. "I'd like to take a moment to clarify the situation and hopefully put it to rest. Contrary to your story, Derek Connolly and I did not appeal the decision by the Writers Guild East. We strongly disagreed, and waited to read the arbiters' statements to see if we had grounds to appeal under Guild rules. We did not. We accepted the ruling this past Tuesday morning, and the matter was settled. On Friday, we received word that the WGA had reopened the arbitration and held a second hearing. The three arbiters determined a story credit was required, which they gave to Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. We were not informed of this second hearing until it was already over, and though we also strongly disagree with this decision, we will not appeal it."
Jurassic World stars stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas-Howard, Irrfan Khan, Ty Simpkins and Judy Greer.
The Jurassic Park films are based on Michael Crichton's series of novels about pre-historic beasts being revived by revolutionary gene technology. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are co-producing the film alongside Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two installments in the franchise.
The film will hit theaters on June 12, 2015.
