Smollett teamed up with model (and John Legend's wife) Chrissy Teigen to announce this year's Billboard Award nominees. While there, they opened to fans during a Q&A session. According to Billboard Tuesday, one of the fans asked who he would like to see on the show in its sophomore season.
Without hesitation Smollett answered with iconic singers Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson. It's not completely out of the question considering both ladies have also starred in classic movies throughout their singing career.
Carey recently played a social worker in Precious and Jackson actually has a few films under her belt as well such as The Nutty Professor 2, Poetic Justice and most recently Why Did I Get Married as well as the movie's sequel Why Did I Get Married Too.
Also during the ceremony, Teigen had no problem showing love for her husband Legend who was nominated for a number of awards including Top Radio Songs Artist and Top R&B Artist. But both Smollett and Teigen agreed that Beyonce was one of their favorites as well. Smollett said he wouldn't mind if Beyonce also made an appearance on Empire's new season.
