The official first look trailer at the second season of HBO's True Detective has officially been released, and while some specific plot points haven't quite been revealed in the new clip, it does give fans the first official glimpse at the show's new cast.

The official clip, which is only one minute long and features what appears to be mostly moody shots set to a morose soundtrack, does give a first look at the new season's cast, who are picking up where the season one cast (including Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson) left off.

In addition to seeing Colin Farrell's Ray Velcoro, Vince Vaughn's Frank Semyon, and Rachel McAdams' Ani Bezzerides, fans also get a look at Taylor Kitsch's Paul Woodrugh and others.

HBO's previous statement about the second season does potentially provide a few clues to what fans can expect however-and when held up against the trailer, things could begin to make some more sense.

"A bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California," the statement says.

"Colin Farrell is Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective in the all-industrial City of Vinci, L.A. County. Vince Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his life's work, while his wife and closest ally (Kelly Reilly) struggles with his choices and her own," it continues. "Rachel McAdams in Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County sheriff's detective often at odds with the system she serves, while Taylor Kitsch plays Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle cop for the California Highway Patrol who discovers a crime scene which triggers an investigation involving three law-enforcement groups, multiple criminal collusions, and billions of dollars."

True Detective season 2 premieres Sunday, June 21 on HBO.
