It has been eight months since music legend Whitney Houston passed away, but a pack of celebrity friends joined together this week to keep the memory of their idol alive.

A slew of famous faces including Jennifer Hudson, Britney Spears, Halle Berry and LL Cool J came together Thursday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for a special tribute called "We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Tribute To Whitney Houston."

The tribute is set to air as an hour-long television special on CBS on Nov. 13.

Houston's presence was felt in the building both emotionally and physically in the form of Grammy-winning singer and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson, who dressed as Houston and performed a medley of her biggest hits. The audience embraced Hudson as she sang songs like "I Will Always Love You," "I'm Every Woman," "How Will I Know" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

Hudson spoke to the audience about the immense influence Houston has had on Hudson's life and career.

"She has been a huge part of my life musically," Hudson said. "She's just been like this outline, this blueprint for myself."

Britney Spears was another singer who paid tribute to Houston, who paved the way for many of today's stars.

"I think she's amazing," Spears said. "And I think that her voice is better than God. I just, I love her."

Houston's influence extends past only singers. Halle Berry, another Academy Award-winning actress, said Houston has been a constant force of motivation in her life.

"She inspired a generation of little girls and women to believe in their own dream and to know that they had within themselves the greatest gift of all," Berry said. "I was one of those little girls who then became a woman who never ever, ever, stopped loving Whitney Houston."
