Felix Baumgartner Video: Skydiver Breaks Record of Viewers on YouTube With LIVE Space Jump [WATCH]
Felix Baumgartner's live stream video drew more than 8 million viewers breaking the record for the most watched live event on YouTube, the video sharing site said Sunday.
YouTube said that at peak, more than 8 million concurrent livestreams were watching the unprecedented jump Sunday in which Baumgartner broke the speed of sound after jumping from a platform 128,100 feet high.
"We congratulate Felix Baumgartner and the entire Red Bull Stratos team for their successful mission, and for creating a livestream with the most concurrent views ever on YouTube," YouTube said in a statement.
The 43-year-old Austrian skydiver, set three world records: top speed during free fall, free fall from the highest altitude and highest manned balloon flight.
After a 4:19 minute free fall reaching an estimated speed of 834.37 mph, Baumgartner landed safely near Roswell, New Mexico.
He fell on both knees and raised his fists in the air to celebrate.
Baumgartner was lifted off by an helium balloon to the stratosphere at 11:31 am EST Sunday from Roswell, New Mexico. The ascent to 128,000 feet took more than 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Baumgartner said "The Whole world is watching," before stepping into his free fall.
