Jennifer Aniston: Hotel Worker Fired For Discussing Engaged Actress With Guests
A newly-terminated hotel worker had no idea that talking about Jennifer Aniston would cost him his job.
But Terry Siegler claims he was fired from the Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado in Santa Fe, New Mexico, after he confirmed to a group of guests that the engaged actress was in fact staying at the resort, according to a report from TMZ.
Several guests had already spotted Aniston out and about around the hotel, including relaxing in the spa. So when the boarded the shuttle bus Siegler drove and asked him to confirm whether Aniston was at the property, he did.
Siegler said to TMZ that he told the guests that Aniston was there and that based on what he had seen, the actress was "very sweet and much more petite than I thought." He said the guests then talked loudly about what Siegler told them once they returned to the hotel, and they were overheard by some of Aniston's group, who thought Siegler had been gossiping about Aniston.
Siegler claims one of Aniston's friends reported what they heard to hotel management, not much later the shuttle bus driver had been terminated on the grounds that he violated the hotel's privacy policy.
Part of the hotel staff's job is to be friendly to guests and engage them in conversation, Siegler said, so he didn't know how else he was supposed to react when asked about Aniston.
"They brought [Jennifer] up first ... Was I supposed to deny it?" he said.
The general manager of the Four Seasons hotel didn't offer much information to TMZ.
"I cannot confirm anything about our employees but I will say that we have a very strict confidentiality policy and we do enforce those policies," the manager said.
Sielger has not yet taken steps toward a wrongful termination suit, and he said he is "unsure" if he will pursue any legal action against his former employer.
