Blake Shelton's contestant Meghan Linsey gave a solid performance during the Top 10 live performances Monday night on The Voice, but the coach needed to defend the choice of song on Twitter.

Linsey gave an outstanding rendition of the soulful rock song "Home" from Marc Broussard, which can be watched below.

Some fans on Twitter apparently did not favor Linsey's choice of this song. Shelton even called out one Twitter user specifically for their distaste of Linsey's song choice.

The fan claimed Linsey sang yet another country song, but Shelton declared, "Actually that wasn't a country song."

The veteran Voice coach even used a couple of thumbs down emojis to convey his message of not agreeing with the fan.

Despite some unhappy fans of Linsey's song choice for The Voice Top 10, Broussard was content with Linsey's version of his song.

"Thanks for killing my song, Meghan!" he dished on Twitter, praising the Team Blake contestant.

Just to further defend Linsey's song choice, she did begin her journey on The Voice with a non-country tune during the blinds. She sang Nazareth's "Love Hurts" and during the battles she sang "Don't Let Me Down" by The Beatles, which also isn't considered a country song.

During the knockouts she tackled Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," which is also not considered a country song.

Once the lives began, she first performed OneRepublic's "Love Runs Out" that also doesn't fit in the country genre.

Just last week, during the Top 12 performances she did sing Little Big Town's "Girl Crush," which is within the country genre, but she added her soulful flare, which melded and morphed the genres.

Tune in on Mondays and Tuesdays starting at 8 p.m. ET for Season 8 of The Voice on NBC.
