Madonna canceled today's show in Dallas due to "severe laryngitis," but the second scheduled show in the city for tomorrow is still expected to go on.

Madonna was expected to perform at the American Airlines Center today but canceled on Friday after her voice box started swelling and was irritated most likely causing her hoarseness and loss of voice. .

The Material Girl's doctor ordered the singer on Friday to be on "complete vocal rest," for a period of 36 hours, according to her website.

Madonna disappointed her fans last week when she used guns during a performance in Denver, Colorado, a state struck by a massive killing at a screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora.

Twelve people were killed and 71 wounded at the shootings.

During the concert, Madonna pulled out a fake gun and shot a masked gunman which was followed by images of blood on a large screen on stage.

Denver radio personality Peter Burns, who attended the concert in Denver, said some people left the concert after Madonna's actions.

"I heard the word 'Colorado,' you know, 'Aurora,' 'shooting.' You could hear people talking about it and it was little bit unsettling. I saw two or three people get up and grab their stuff and actually leave their seats," Burns said.

Madonna released a statement on her use of guns.

"I do not condone violence or the use of guns. Rather they are symbols of wanting to appear strong and wanting to find a way to stop feelings that I find hurtful or damaging. In my case I want to stop the lies and hypocrisy of the church, the intolerance of many narrow minded cultures and societies I have experienced throughout my life and in some cases the pain I have felt from having my heart broken," she told E! News.
