'Downton Abbey' Actor Admits There Will Be Tears When The Show Ends

On Sunday, Mirror posted the details from series creator Julian Fellowes who mentioned one thing that's for certain- there are no plans to kill off the Dowager Countess of Grantham played by Maggie Smith.

"Maggie will never die!" Fellowes insisted.

Is The Dowager Going To Appear In A New TV Series After 'Downton Abbey' Ends?

The actress didn't seem too certain if her character would be sticking around after she made it clear that the Dowager can't live forever.

"I mean, I certainly can't keep going," Smith said. "To my knowledge I must be 110 by now. We're late into the late 1920's."

While this may have caused speculation, fans can rest easy that Violet Crawley will very much be alive when the British drama finishes its final moments.

Fellowes also revealed when the last episode of the series is expected to air.

"It will end on Christmas Day," he said. "It will be a two-hour special on Christmas night. I am pleased with the way the whole series is coming on actually."

In a report from ITV, Jim Carter who plays Mr. Carson, revealed his bittersweet feelings over the show coming to an end.

"It's probably the right time," he said. "Everything has to come to an end, but we shall miss it enormously."

Downton Abbey Season 6 is expected to return this fall in the United Kingdom.
