The 37-year-old reality star spoke with People magazine Wednesday afternoon and said she was told the heart wrenching news on April 23 that her breast cancer has not only come back, but returned in the same one.
“I was just sick to my stomach. I can’t even begin to describe the feeling you get when someone says you have cancer. Then to get it again after you thought you fought it and thought it was behind you…”

She confessed at first she had little hope to overcome it a second time around.
“I was thinking, ‘This is definitely it. I’m going to die.’”
The first time cancer was found in her right breast was 2009. She got a bilateral mastectomy. Fans saw her fear that the cancer had returned on her debut season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey last year. While she was cleared then, it is a different story now.
She said it’s located “right in the middle of where the other two were. It’s the same type of tumor. I thought, you remove it, you go through the harsh treatments, and you move on. So I as shocked. Everyone is shocked.”
She added that her physician said it’s possible all of the tissue from her breast wasn’t taken out when she got her mastectomy.
“You’re never going to remove 100 percent of the breast issue with a mastectomy. So you just pray to God that you remove enough,” Marchese said. “You have a double mastectomy and chemotherapy to stack all the odds in your favor so that there is no recurrence. The percentage of it recurring is very small, less than 5 percent. I fell into that category. I wasn’t so lucky.”
She is going to have surgery to remove it and undergo intense treatment. In the meantime, she keeps the prayers up that it will be gone for good.
