Shaunie O’Neal and Tami Roman might have surprised fans when they decided to head over to VH1’s Basketball Wives LA from the original Basketball Wives in Miami and O’Neal has opened up on the cast colliding and what fans can expect from the juicy season.

O’Neal, who started the franchise after her high profile split with former NBA great Shaquille ONeal, confessed that it wasn’t necessarily something she “wanted” to do, but hoped it would help out the so-so series.

“I was asked today if I wanted to be on LA. That was the wrong verb. It wasn’t a want. Just a…I don’t know want to say a need either. It just needed something. And I’m not the only one who came back,”she told Hip Hollywood at her son’s special event for his Stay Based clothing line in Los Angeles recently. “I think it gets good. It gets almost a little competitive. Unintentionally.”

While fans saw Roman in the extended trailer for the season, O’Neal added that’s not all she has up her sleeve for viewers.

“I have a couple of surprises in store this season. So be patient. Stay tuned. It will be some faces that you guys will be very surprised to see.”

The cast shakeup is definitely an interesting one considering Basketball Wives in Miami ended after five seasons. Those co-stars nearly fell apart as many walked away from the show and others were let go.

But when O’Neal and Roman join the likes of Draya Michele, Malaysia Pargo, Brandi Maxiell and the new ladies, it’s only a recipe for drama.

See how it all plays out when the fourth season of Basketball Wives LA premieres July 12 at 9/8c on VH1.
