Diesel and Dwayne Johnson also spoke about the sequel toFurious 7 in a recent interview with MTV.
Diesel stated that Paul Walker was certain of a sequel for Furious 7.
"Paul used to say that ['Fast & Furious'] 8 was guaranteed and, in some ways, when your brother guarantees something, you have to make sure it comes to pass," Diesel said.
He went on to place Walker in the next project beautifully stating that next film will be "from" him.
"So, if fate has it - fate, F8 - then you'll get it. 'Furious 7′ was for Paul; 8 is from Paul.'"
Meanwhile, Johnson dished about his possible return as Detective Hobbs in Fast and Furious 8. "I talked to Vin today - we had a nice discussion - and I think whatever it is, whatever we come up with for 'Furious 8,' we have to raise the bar, in terms of action, yes, but also in terms of story and character," he said.
Recently, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that it's still going to be a while to go before Fast and Furious 8 goes into production.
The film's producer Neal Moritz spoke the publication about their vision for the sequel to Furious 7. He suggested that right now the moment was about celebrating the massive success of Furious 7 and they will get to discussing what their plans are going forward in a while.
"Honestly, we're just bathing in the success of this," he said. "We'll probably get together in a week or so to talk."
No solid details for the sequel have been hashed out yet, but Diesel, who is heavily invested in the franchise, will be collaborating with writer Chris Morgan and Moritz on the plot of the next installment. Moritz also revealed that the team aspired to keep pushing the envelope.
"[The story] is going to have to be something enticing for all of us," Moritz said. "It has to be as good as or better [than Furious 7]."
Last year, Deadline learned that Fast and Furious 8 will be drawing the curtains on the speed thriller. Additionally, the publication also reported that director Justin Lin, who helmed the Fast movies before Furious 7 -- which has been directed by James Wan -- might be returning for the final bow. The plan for the finale is pretty unique and ambitious, as it is set to be a "multi-part production" and there will multiple movies filmed together for the big 8.
But the new Hollywood Reporter piece contradicts the Deadline report, stating that Wan's not quite out the door yet. The publication speculated that Wan is still in the running. Wan, who directed Furious 7, told the publication that he's been up for taking up the next in the series as well. "I'm open to anything at this point," he said.
Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the franchise, recently spoke to Jimmy Kimmel as a guest on his late night show about Furious 7 and as he shared his vision for the films, Uproxx revealed that he ssuggested that he was really brought in for "a story that follows this that takes place in New York."
Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
