The twelfth season of NCIS concluded Tuesday night with one major cliffhanger ending, in which Gibbs (Mark Harmon) was shot twice at a marketplace in Iraq.

One fan in particular asked, "Mark Harmon is signed on for Season 13, right?"

On Monday night, Harmon actually made an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden and some of the things he shared in regard to the season finale and the characters in general seem to be possibly hinting that he won't be back after all.

In the video below, Corden asked about if there is "a beloved character being killed off," which many viewers assumed happened already with the loss of Ned Dorneget (Matt Jones), but Harmon said, "No, you're not wrong."

He obviously wouldn't say who is getting killed off, but he did share, "I really believe this. I think anybody on this show is replaceable."

"But the truth is this show births characters leaving. It always has," he elaborated.

"And I think there's a creative footprint on this show...and I think it keeps actors healthy," he diplomatically added.

The real kicker is when he shared, "It's not my choice, number one, but I think anybody is replaceable."

Is it not his choice to be killed off? Is that what he's saying? Time will surely tell if that's the case.

The executive producer/showrunner Gary Glasberg told FOX411 on Thursday that Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) "will take the lead" on the case since he was on the phone with The Calling's leader Daniel Budd (Giles Matthey) as Gibbs was attacked.

The first episode of Season 13 will begin where the finale of Season 12 left off.

The cliffhanger was a "more significant" move than in the Season 11 finale, which is obviously keeping viewers on their toes wondering what will happen to Gibbs.

NCIS airs on CBS.
