Toni Braxton Bankrupt; Singer Accused of Fraud
Toni Braxton has definitely fallen on hard times.
The famous singer filed again for bankruptcy and is now being charged with fraud.
Braxton's bankruptcy case first started in 2010 when she started having financial troubles. Now it appears her financial situation has worsened as TMZ reports the R&B singer allegedly committed wrong-doing.
A report released on October 29 states that Braxton was caught giving thousands of dollars to her estranged husband Keri Lewis that was originally earmarked for creditors. Now the appointed bankruptcy trustee is suing Braxton to receive the money she owes.
Lewis allegedly received $53,490 from Braxton after the money was allocated for creditors during the court proceedings.
A representative for Braxton denied the claim and said that the money given to Lewis was transferred legally for business matters stating: "All of the payments made to Lewis prior to Toni's bankruptcy filing were appropriate transfers for reasonable and necessary personal and business expenses in the ordinary course of her business."
The rep also stated that Braxton has paperwork to prove her side of the story.
The bankruptcy fraud case is being put in the hands of a judge to settle the matter.
Braxton previously filed for bankruptcy in 2008 after falling deep in debt by millions of dollars. She then made a new file in 2010 after a series of health problems led to increased medical bills for which she sought court protection from her financial burden.
The "Un-Break My Heart" singer is afflicted with an auto-immune disease that also claimed her uncle's life.
Braxton recently lent her voice for The Paley Center for Media's Annual Los Angeles Benefit at The Rooftop of the Lot on October 22 in West Hollywood, California.
