Despite being two of the biggest stars on television, it seems like Paul Wesley and Phoebe Tonkin may be taking a step away from the spotlight at some point.

On Monday, Hello! Magazine mentioned that Wesley may consider leaving The Vampire Diaries following Nina Dobrev's exit. He may not leave while the show is still going, but he may have hit a point where it might be time to let the series run its course.
"I think everyone- everything has to come to an end, man," the actor told reporters at the Humane Society Gala last weekend. "First of all, I'm playing a 17-year-old. I'm 32-years-old. I'm infinitely 17."

Wesley then pointed out that it would probably be awkward if the show lasted for a longer time while he's still playing an immortal teenager.
"So theoretically, if I were to stay on the show for say three more years, I would be a 35-year-old playing a 17-year-old, which is literally more than double," he said. "It's thirty-four plus one."
Meanwhile, it appears that Wesley's girlfriend from The Originals won't be seen quite as much in the upcoming third season. Speaking to TV Line, Tonkin mentioned that she'll show up in only a certain amount of episodes- at least for now.
"Right now, we're only going to see Hayley once a month," she said. "I hope that at least one episode will be the full day when I'm human."
Tonkin may only have so much television time, and based on what Wesley said, he might be ready to hit the end of an era.
