While fans await the highly anticipated return for ABC’s Rookie Blue as it enters its sixth season, a show runner has revealed whether the see a season seven.

“That question is still up in the air,” executive producer Tassie Cameron said recently. “It’s great to hear the networks are interested in keeping us around, it’s such a vote of confidence and means an awful lot.”

Cameron, who has worked on successful shows like Degrassi: The Next Generation on CTV, is pretty certain that the show will see a seventh season. But she opened up about the details that still have to be worked out.

“There are actors, and there are contracts…I don’t know. I think it’s still up in the air. It’s a conversation we’ll be having in the next couple of weeks.”

As for as season six, Cameron revealed it picks up about a couple of weeks after the fifth season left off.

“That Ted McDonald (Shawn Doyle) bomb plot, you have not seen the end of that story. That’s part of it, that 15 Division is starting to realize that something is going on within their own force, with their own people.”

Aside from the fallout of the explosion tragedy, this season will certainly be a dramatic one for the precinct. Sam is set to find out his ex-girlfriend Marlo is pregnant with his child. The timing isn’t the greatest since he and Andy finally got to a good place at the end of the last season. Nick moves on with another officer and Chloe and Dov attempt to get out of the awkward post-breakup phase.

Rookie Blue returns to ABC Thursday June 25 at 10/9c on ABC.
