"The Situation" is returning to television tonight.

Why Were Mike Sorrentino & Vinny Guadagnino Missing From Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi's Wedding?

Years after Jersey Shore came to an end after six seasons, Mike Sorrentino is heading back to reality in WEtv's Marriage Boot Camp, and this time around, his college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce, is along for the ride.

"She was a little nervous going in, but I thought it was going to be a benefit for us as a couple to go in because we're not a perfect couple," Sorrentino explained to PEOPLE Magazine on Friday. "We have ups and downs just like everyone else, but at the same time it's almost like free therapy."

Although the reality star has been vocal about his struggles with addiction, he is now sober, following a 2012 rehab stint, and feels his new way of life is best for both the show, and his realtionship status.

"It wasn't the first time that I did a show sober," he said. "I did Jersey Shore 6 sober, and you really just concentrate on yourself and just being the best person that you can be or be better than you were the day before."

Meanwhile, Pesce admittedly had a few reservations going into her gig on WEtv.

"I'm not somebody in the public eye, so for me it was really opening up with my deepest concerns and thoughts and really being vulnerable in front of strangers and in front of national television," she said. "But having him by my side made me comfortable enough to do it."

Marriage Boot Camp premieres tonight at 9 p.m. on WEtv.
