Writer/director James Gunn has been busy penning a follow up to Marvel's 2014 blockbuster (see video below) and, on Tuesday, the filmmaker finished penning the first iteration of Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt) next adventure.
"Phew. After 48 days straight without a day off, the first draft of #GotG2 is done," Gunn wrote on Facebook. "I'm sorry to all my friends and family who I have ignored."
Marvel Studios is an impenetrable vault of secrets, as always, but a few hints have slipped about regarding the Guardians next outing. Set to feature Quill, Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot (Vin Diesel), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and Drax (Dave Bautista), the 2017 adventure will answer linger questions from the group's origin story.
"It's not really based on anything," Gunn informed the Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend podcast in early 2015. "The story for Guardians 2 is an original story that I came up with that I started working on actually while I was shooting Guardians 1, and it'll answer some of the questions that were put forth in the first movie about Peter Quill's father and who he is and what's going on with that."
Marvelites can find out more when Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
