The movie adaptation of E.L. James' sexy novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" continues to create buzz over who will ultimately land the main role of S & M-crazed billionaire Christian Grey.
Since James notoriously stated that her popular read is loosely based off of the "Twilight Saga," it comes to no surprise that Robert Pattinson has been one of the highly-coveted choices for the part by fans.
While the vampire movie star has stayed relatively mum on the subject, he did sit down with MTV on Nov. 7 and admitted to reading a portion of the popular erotica.
"I've read a bit of the Fifty Shades of Grey one. Before it was Fifty Shades ... [it was] Masters of the Universe!" Pattinson said.
Pattinson aside, internet gossip has also brought some other well respected actors into the prospect pool as potential Grey suitors, including "Gangster Squad's" Ryan Gosling, "White Collar's" Matt Bomer, "Vampire Diaries'" Ian Somerhalder and Henry Cavill of "Man of Steel" among others.
The "Fifty Shades of Grey" storyline revolves around recent college graduate Anastasia Steele, who voluntarily partakes in a dominant and submissive sexual relationship with the rich and kinky Grey. Through an "agreement," they both delve into the world of bondage and masochism
Up until this point, James and the producers of the future film have remained quiet on what the casting protocol will be. Only time will reveal who ultimately walks away with the high-profile roles of Grey along with his sexual partner, Anastasia Steele. Although screenwriter Kelly Marcel was recently attached to pen the screenplay, no release date for the flick has yet to be announced.
Universal Pictures and Focus Features bought the rights to the "Fifty Shades" feature earlier in the year. The saucy novel has now sold over 20 million copies to date.
