Two New Teaser Clips Show Dark and Gritty Side To 'True Detective'
A plot summary and a few episode titles have finally been released, a week and a half prior to the show's highly anticipated return on June 21, with more details on what to expect about the on-screen characters--crooked businessman Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn), Detective Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrel), Detective Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams) and motorcycle cop Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch)--as they all deal with the events surrounding a grisly murder.
"Colin Farrel (Golden Globe winner for In Bruges) plays Ray Velcoro, a troubled detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him," the plot details read. "Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers) portrays Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner. Rachel McAdams (Midnight in Paris) plays Ani Bezzerides, a sheriff's detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves. Taylor Kitsch (HBO's The Normal Heart) portrays Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and a highway patrol motorcycle officer, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened."
Are Taylor Kitsch & Rachel McAdams Dating?
Though the details don't thoroughly give insight into how this all ties into the central mystery about a California city manager's brutal death during what appears to be an Occult ritual, which also happens to take place during the negotiation period of a big transportation deal, it does provide more insight into what motives will be the driving force behind the main characters.
In addition two of the official episode titles are also very dark, with the season opener titled The Western Book of the Dead, and episode two titled Night Finds You.
