The families on Switched at Birth have had their rough times on the series, but things are about to get so difficult in upcoming episodes that even the strongest will need help.

On Tuesday, E! News updated the spoiler chat where they got some details from Lea Thompson (Kathryn). She mentioned that Bay is not going to be doing so great following the aftermath of all the drama with Emmett.

"With Bay dealing with the fallout from her break-up, Kathryn always tries to keep a stiff upper lip and keep everyone moving forward with a lighter touch," Thompson said. "She's going to move forward with her musical, but she's also going to get hit with a lot of new drama."

As Bay has her own issues to work out, her parents are about to face a time of crisis when money becomes an issue.

"There's going to be big financial problems with John and Kathryn and that's going to be really challenging," the actress said. "They're so used to being able to fix everything and being the mama and papa bear, but they can't this time and that's going to be really hard on them."

There is also the matter of an unexpected pregnancy coming up soon so that will likely add a whole new haul of drama for all the characters. Thompson didn't mention that, but it could possibly tie in with everything else.

Switched at Birth returns on Monday, August 24 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
