From working with K. Michelle to releasing a new video for her new single "I Luh God," Erica Campbell of WeTV’s Mary Mary has been fighting off fans who don’t agree with the direction her solo career is going.

Erica Campbell Blasted For Working With K. Michelle, Possibly Claps Back

Campbell told Hip Hollywood In the latest interview about the criticism she received for the "I Luh God" video, “Of course it’s somebody who’s always a little negative but for the most part it’s been really great.

"I think they’re just loving being able to express how you feel about God in a fun and energetic and cool way. And I’m embracing the positivity in all those who don’t understand it. They can buy someone else’s music. I won’t be offended at all.”

As far as the style of the rap single (which has been dubbed trap gospel), it’s definitely more edgy than what fans are used to hearing from Campbell, or gospel artists in general. But Campbell added that she doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

“I hope the trend continues. The main point is there’s a bunch of people who don’t listen to a traditional style of gospel music but they want… They love God too. They want to be inspired. They want to acknowledge the creator. Why not create music they can turn up to?”

Campbell recently took on a solo career after more than a decade of taking over the gospel industry with her sister Tina Campbell. The duo, Mary Mary, went their separate ways and are now working on their solo projects.
