According to the Independent on Friday, Dornan admits that the role was quite overwhelming for him at first.

He said, "I definitely hadn't done enough work, really, to warrant being given that opportunity. I'd never even done a small part in a BBC production, never mind being given a lead in one. I'd never done British television of any kind. It was a big punt for them to take on me."

He added, "It automatically did wonders for how comfortable I felt early on, knowing that the driving force behind it all believed I was the guy."

Just recently, Dornan also says that he doesn't like to get involved in social media and that staying away from sites such as Twitter and Instagram helps him feel more grounded.

"The fame doesn't feel that palpable until you're online, so I'm actively trying to avoid social media at the moment," he said.
