McDreamy's death was not the first tragic loss on the successful series and he probably will not be the last either.

Dane spoke to HuffPost Live on Tuesday about his departure, Dempsey's departure and why they are justified.
"It was time for us to go. You can't stay on a show forever. Nobody stays on a show forever," Dane shared.
Many fans of the series have been disappointed in how horribly each of their respective characters were killed off since they really did experience some brutal, tragic and unexpected deaths.
Dane however doesn't see the loss of his character or Dempsey's as a bad thing.
"That's Grey's Anatomy," he shared, in regard to how dramatic it can be at times.
"That's television. That's Shonda television," he further stated about the series creator Shonda Rhimes being known for some insanely powerful plot twists that rock viewers' worlds.
Grey's Anatomy returns to ABC on Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET for its season 12 premiere.
