'Empire' Season 2: Taraji P. Henson Talks Dating Co-Stars, 'I Want To Be Known For My Work' [VIDEO]
Taraji P. Henson’s Empire character Cookie doesn’t seem to have trouble in the dating department on the show, but now the actress has opened up about her love life in reality; and it might be different than most fans would expect.
Premiere Date For ‘Empire’ Season 2 Revealed
She opened up with Allure magazine recently and said she always wanted their to be a clear line between business and pleasure.
“I always wanted to be known for my work. Not who I dated. Not who I slept with…I have a gift and my gift is acting.”
She said she had already had more than enough life experiences when she entered the world of acting at just 26. As a single mom, Henson said, “I was smart enough to know reality from fantasy. I didn’t want to blur the lines. This is a job that I have to do. I cannot get caught up in it. And I sleep with these guys, why would they want to work with me again? The conquest is up. Now I’m just used up…”
Her Empire co-star Terrence Howard, who plays Cookie’s ex-husband, also spoke out about Henson deciding not to be intimate with her co-stars. He said earlier this year that she was the only woman on the set of their previous film together Hustle & Flow, who was much different than the other women on set.
He said, “When I wad doing ‘Hustle & Flow’, I was like, ‘I know I’m playing this character right if all my female co-leads want to sleep with me.’ Taraji was the only one that didn’t want to.”
