'Criminal Minds' Season 11 Spoilers: Jennifer Love Hewitt To Be Replaced By 'Archer' Star In Next Chapter [VIDEO]
Entertainment Weekly reported that Aisha Tyler will be joining the cast of Criminal Minds for season 11.
Could Ella Greenaway Return For Season 11?
The actress, who is known for her work on Archer and as a co-host of The Talk, will be playing for the BAU, and is possibly a way to make up for the loss of Jennifer Love Hewitt, who opted out of season 11 on account of her pregnancy. Tyler will play Dr. Tara Lewis a forensic psychologist who specializes in criminal cases.
EW also sourced an official description about the character:
AJ Cook Also Set To Exit On Account Of Pregnancy?
"Her dream was to study psychopaths up close and personal - and her psychology background, combined with her experience in the FBI, brought her face-to-face with monsters. Her job was to stare them down and interview them, in order to determine if they were fit to stand trial. In the process, she made herself find the humanity inside these broken men (and, sometimes, women) in order to learn if there was a conscience behind their brutal crimes."
Following the news of Hewitt's exit, showrunner Erica Messer had dished about the possibility of bringing a fun guest star on board for the next chapter. In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly Messer had a thing or two to say about bringing in new characters and actors in season 11.
"It's such a big discussion with so many cooks in the kitchen. We haven't really concentrated on that yet. Our season in the writers' room will begin June 1, so that's our work for the beginning of season 11," she said. "We have had a revolving door, and sometimes there might be fun in [bringing back someone] who's come in that door and say, 'Hey, do you want to come back and play for a little bit?' Which would be amazing because it's always a fun thing when shows get to bring people back. It takes a lot of us getting together and talking about what we've seen and what we need. It feels like there's nothing missing on our team. We've got such a great group. Our core group that everyone's known and loved for so many years cover all of our bases, so anything on top of it is like a bonus. This might be a good opportunity to bring in a fun guest star for a while and maybe shake it up a little bit."
The finale of Criminal Minds aired on May 6.
