The sixth season premiere of ABC’s Rookie Blue is set to hit the small screen later this week and one of the main story lines is Marlo’s pregnancy with Sam’s child (amid his relationship with Andy); a new spoiler alert reveals whether the baby news will cause Sam and Marlo to spark up another romance.

TV Line confirmed Monday that the baby is indeed Sam’s, but fan of Andy and Sam won’t have to worry about Marlo coming in between the couple.

Executive producer Tassie Cameron said, “We didn’t want to do a love triangle. We wanted to do a life triangle.”

She added, “When this pregnancy bomb hits it’s obviously going to be a massive shift for [Andy and Sam]. We were working on the theme this season that even if life isn’t a fairy tale it doesn’t mean we can’t have a happy ending.”

Still, the news will certainly serve as a test for Andy and Sam, who finally got to a good place in the fifth season finale. But Cameron continued and said the status of their relationship is what helps them get through it.

“I can just say this: they are in as good of a place as they have ever been to handle something like this..Life kind of takes you by surprise and throws you curveballs. It’s really how you react to them together. That’s going to determine whether you can make it through them.”

Rookie Blue airs on ABC Thursday at 10/9c.
