They have come to terms with the fact that they are likely to die in the furnace they've been trapped in, and as a result, former lovers Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Eric (Greg Vaughn) will bond for what they assume is the final time as they wait for death to take them on Days of Our Lives.

Nicole & Eric Make A Difficult Decision After Xander Turns Up The Heat

Nicole became the target of Xander's (Paul Telfer) rage after he realized she didn't actually want to be with him, and when he attempted to strangle her to death, Eric intervened. The two then went into hiding in the basement of Nicole's office, hoping they would be able to last until morning and would be able to escape then. However, Xander never gave up his pursuit, forcing the two to climb into the furnace to continue hiding.

Unfortunately for them, Xander was still able to locate them, and since they wouldn't come out, he decided to kill them by trapping them inside and cranking up the heat--which would suffocate and scorch them both to death. In an attempt at prolonging their survival for as long as possible, both removed most of their clothes. Now, a combination of regret that they will die, plus the fact they are without their clothing, will cause the two to bond for what they believe is the final time.

Nicole Makes A Shocking Confession To Eric

As they await their deaths, they will succumb to the passion they once felt for one another, and a scorching kiss will cause the two to express the love they still feel and they will potentially find some way to pass the time as they wait by being together.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
