It was recently revealed that Lockhart Agos Lee will be getting a new associate, Dirk, in season 7 of The Good Wife.

This could have its own set of implications for the opponents: Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox). Alicia is starting out fresh and it seems likely that she will choose to partner up with Louis Canning, who propositioned her in the finale of season 6. Now as the enemy will be arming up with a new associate, Alicia's firm will also need to get some heavyweights on board to reckon with her former colleagues.

We have an interesting suggestion in this regard -- get Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) back on board, and in a more permanent capacity. What is Elsbeth were to join Alicia's firm as a partner? Preston's character is adored by fans and her quirks would really lend to some much needed comic relief.

Critics Unforgiving Of Controversial Season 6 Finale Scene Of The Good Wife

As part of a live Twitter Q&A with fans, Preston addressed the question of her return as Elsbeth in season 7 of The Good Wife.

When asked what fans can expect from her character in the next chapter, Preston did not confirm her role, but stated that of the showrunners do call her back, she didn't "know how they'll top penguins in my head, treadmill desks" and making out with Kyle MacLachlan in her office.

The next chapter of the legal drama is set to premiere on CBS on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m.

The season 6 finale, entitled 'Wanna Partner?' aired on CBS on May 10.
