During filming, Gunvalson received a phone call, during which she learned her mother, Joanne Steinmetz, had died suddenly. Tonight, fans will watch as the dramatic moment plays out on the Bravo reality show.
In a sneak peek of tonight's episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County shared by E! News on Monday, Gunvalson and her co-stars, including Meghan Edmonds, Tamra Barney, Shannon Beador and Jeana Keough, are seen enjoying game night when Gunvalson learns her mom died.
Vicki Gunvalson Is Still Mourning The Loss Of Her Mother
Immediately, Gunvalson collapsed to the ground and began sobbing.
"What do you mean?! No! What happened?" she asks through tears.
During an interview with PEOPLE Magazine last month, Gunvalson said she was still devastated about her mother's passing, and admitted that at times, reality television can be a little too real.
“One of the biggest things, obviously, was my mother dying this year … cameras were on me when I got the news. That episode hasn’t aired yet, but viewers have seen me getting that news, and dropping to the floor and screaming. I had just talked to my mom a few hours later, and she was fine, she was healthy. She laid on her bed and just died. It was nothing any of us were expecting, because she wasn’t sick.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County airs tonight at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
