Tattoo artist and TV personality Kat Von D is celebrating her birthday, but not the one that has to do with the day she was born.

On Tuesday, the mistress of the dark took to Instagram to post a stunning photo of herself that flaunts her elegant makeup and detailed ink on her skin. She has a reason to celebrate her glowing features since it's been eight years that she's been sober.
Today, I celebrate my 8th year of being sober.

In a post from The Fix in 2013, Von D opened up to talk show host Rosie O'Donnell about getting sober and how she realized that alcohol was consuming her life away.

"When I realized that drinking was getting in the way [of tattooing], I woke up one day and said I don't want to drink anymore and I stopped," the artist said.
She also realized that her friends weren't her real friends and she was "just a party favor."
Lately, Von D has been keeping busy with her makeup brands and expressing her talent on social media. She showed off her musical talent in an Instagram video where she can play classical tunes on the piano.
She's also made friends with some furry critters- or, not so furry, actually.
