Bieber Won't Be Charged in Paparazzi Altercation
Justin Bieber won't be charged for allegedly beating a photographer nearly five months ago outside a mall in Calabasas, California.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney will not file criminal charges against Bieber, according to celebrities' site TMZ, because overall there is lack of evidence and conflicting witness accounts.
Prosecutors had been asked by police to consider filing a misdemeanor battery charge against Bieber, reports the Associated Press.
The alleged altercation took place on May 28 outside a shopping mall in Calabasas, California. Bieber (who was with his girlfriend Selena Gomez) allegedly attacked Jose Sarros kicking him in the abdomen and punching him.
Sarros alleged that he had been struck in the face during the scuffle by the 18-year-old "Boyfriend" singer.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the altercation and Sarros was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released shortly.
According to a witness, paparazzi were blocking Bieber's car, preventing him from leaving, which angered the singer. Bieber reportedly got out and the altercation began.
During an acceptance speech at the American Music Awards last Sunday, Bieber acknowledged that it hasn't been easy for him to always be in the spotlight but thanked his fans for their support.
