Eleven seasons is a lot for any show, but when it comes to procedurals it might not actually be that much.

Law and Order SVU is already into its 17th season, so the suggestion that Criminal Minds might pull the plug after the upcoming eleventh seems a bit farfetched. A new report by IBT flirts with the possibility of the CBS series coming to a close with season 11 over a certain detail about the number of episodes this chapter will have. It has been revealed that Season 11 of the show will have only 22 episodes, which is the least of all chapters of the show this far. Most of the seasons stick to 24 episodes at least.

The publication believes this could mean that the show is concluding. But the reason for doubt is also entertained sourcing a report by Master Herald, which suggests that the number of episodes have been lessened to make up for AJ Cook, who plays Jennifer Jareau, joining the next chapter later than usual. Cook will be missing in the first few episodes as she will have just given birth to her child and will need some maternal time-off.

In other related new, filming for season 11 is set to begin and the first table read has already taken place. The official "set_report" Twitter account for the CBS procedural revealed that the series main stars like Joe Mantegna, who plays David Rossi, and Shemar Moore, who portrays the part of Derek Morgan, have begun work on the next chapter. It was revealed that the first table read took place on July 7.

In fact various images from the set, and of the stage design from the next chapter have also been revealed. Most recently, an on set image of Penelope Garcia's (Kristen Vangsness) work space stating that Vangsness will begin filming this week.

The first pictures from the set of season 11 of Criminal Minds were posted on June 11.

Season 11 will premiere on Sept. 30.

The finale of Criminal Minds aired on May 6.
