'X Factor' Top 8 Announced: Carly Rose Sonenclar Lands Top Spot After Double Elimination (WATCH VIDEO)
"The X Factor" had a double elimination on its Top 10 Results show on Thursday, Nov. 22
The first to be eliminated with the least votes was Arin Ray. Judge Britney Spears consoled the singer, urging Arin not to lose hope but treat it as a learning experience: "I think you should just take this as a learning experience and this isn't the last that people are going to hear from you."
With Arin eliminated as the contestant with the least votes, the two performers with the next two lowest votes were unveiled as Beatrice Miller and CeCe Frey. By finishing in 10th and 11th place those two acts were given the nerve-wracking task of competing in a sing off against one another.
Frey sang Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You," with Miller following that up with her rendition of Dido's "White Flag."
When it was time for the judges to decide who they thought should be sent home, Demi Lovato voted to eliminate Miller, where as Britney Spears voted to send Frey home.
L.A. Reid then backed Lovato by also voting for Miller's elimination, which immediately sparked tears from the contestant who had received two votes for her elimination.
The camera turned to Cowell to give his vote. He said: "You know what Beatrice? I liked you from the beginning but it think this is all getting too much for you. I don't know how you managed to sing the song after watching that film. I mean, seriously, it breaks your heart."
With that, he also voted and confirmed Miller's elimination.
"Are you okay?" host Khloe Kardashian asked a crying Miller after she learned she was going home.
"No," she answered.
"Sweetheart, you are so young, you have so far to go," Spears told her.
Later, Kardashian and her co-host Mario Lopez announced the latest rankings of the Top 8. The order was based on which act received the least amount of votes to the most.
