A Movie Pilot report has interestingly speculated what Fast and Furious 8 might have looked like had Paul Walker still been alive.

Eva Mendes Has Signed On For Fast and Furious 8?

The publication suggests that the the original Furious 7 plot would lead into a different storyline for the next installment. Although director James Wan hasn't revealed how things were planned initially, the report believes the plot would have been pretty much the same except for the major tweaks regarding Walker's character, Brian O'Connor, and a few other storylines. According to MP, we might have also seen a different ending for Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) and Kurt Russell's character. It goes as far as to suggest that Shaw would not have been imprisoned in the original plot, which would influence the nature of events in the sequel.

The most interesting theory the pop culture website has to offer has to do with the fact that focus was shifting from Walker's character O'Connor anyway, as Dominic (Vin Diesel) came to dominate the films. So, O'Connor would have been more part of the backdrop, like the rest of the family.

Justin Lin Returning To Direct Fast and Furious 8?

Even though that might be the case, Walker's absence has left a massive void in the movies, and right now the producers are most likely struggling with finding a suitable replacement.

Rumors about Walker's younger brother Cody -- who stepped in to conclude his character arc in Furious 7 -- being considered for a role in Fast and Furious 8 have also been doing the rounds.

The young actor has himself expressed interest in playing a part in the sequel if offered.

Fast and Furious 8 will premiere on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
