Toward the end of the NBC singing competition "The Voice" on Monday night, Adam Levine took a moment to slam the West Hollywood nightclub the Roxy for not giving his band Maroon 5 a dressing room when they once performed there.

It happened when Levine and the other coaches on the show were giving their feedback to contestant Cassadee Pope, who had just finished singing a rendition of Michelle Branch's "Are You Happy Now?"

"We used to open for Michelle Branch," Levine told Pope after her performance. "I remember we opened for her at the Roxy, and they didn't even give us a dressing home. I hate the Roxy. I'll never play there again."

Pope protested though, saying, "I love the Roxy." The singer had performed there in the past with the Florida-based rock band Hey Monday. However, Levine would not back down.

"Oh, the Roxy is horrible," he said. "Don't ever go there. They screwed us over. And now they're paying for it."

The nightclub and venue then tweeted in their defense a picture of their marquee on Monday night that had a message for "The Voice" coach: it said "Adam Levine your dressing room is ready."

The Los Angeles Times reported that another tweet from the Roxy, which is since been deleted, sarcastically read, "Bands need dressing rooms #notetoself."

After the show, Branch defended the iconic California venue, telling The Hollywood Reporter "I'm sure it wasn't the Roxy's fault. Most likely my band was given one room and I was given the other per my contract."

Additionally, Roxy owner Nic Adler told Yahoo that the venue has no control over handing out dressing rooms to performers.

"If Michelle Branch is playing, it's Michelle Branch's show. And if her management says, 'I want Michelle in this dressing room and I want her band in this other dressing room,' we're at the mercy of the headliner," he said. "For a band to think dressing rooms define how we treat bands is crazy."
