Halle Berry's Daughter Nahla Used 'As A Pawn' In Aubry & Martinez Battle
A source close to Halle Berry said the heated custody battle over her daughter Nahla, which resulted in fight between the actress' fiance and her ex-boyfriend, turned things ugly for the 4-year-old, who reportedly is being used "as a pawn" by all parties.
Berry's ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, 36, and her current fiance, Olivier Martinez, 46, got into a fight on Thanksgiving that allegedly stemmed from Aubry and Berry's custody battle over Nahla. A judge recently denied Berry, 46, permission to move Nahla with her to France, where Martinez is from. When Aubry dropped off Nahla, the daughter he has with the "Cloud Atlas" actress, at Berry's California home on Thanksgiving, he and Martinez got into a brawl that involved punches, kicked and all around injuries.
Aubry said in a statement that during the fight, Martinez threatened his life because of the court ruling that denied Berry permission to move to France with their daughter. He claimed that Martinez yelled at him during their fight, "You cost us $3 million. When you see the judge, you're going to tell him you're going to Paris or I'm going to kill you."
"They keep playing this game and Nahla is used as a pawn," a source said, according to Us Weekly. "It's her I feel sorry for."
Another source close to the actress added, "All [Halle] wants is a normal family life."
Los Angeles police arrested Aubry on suspicion of misdemeanor battery in connection with the fight between him Martinez. Law enforcement personnel familiar with the case said Berry and the family's babysitter may be key witnesses in the determination by prosecutors on whether they should file a criminal charge against Aubyr regarding the Thanksgiving Day fight. Reportedly both saw Martinez and Aubry fight each other in front of Berry's home.
A insider revealed that Nahla may have witnessed some of the action and when LAPD officials arrived at the scene, they called Child Protection Services. The new detail launched an investigation into Nahla's well-being.
