The upcoming movie version of E.L. James' popular erotica "Fifty Shades of Grey" has garnered attention from its fans on a massive scale.

While the author has managed to remain relatively mum on the casting protocol, she did finally reach out to her Twitter followers in terms of the Christian Grey character.

James' took to the social networking site to pose the following query on Wednesday:

"So... who do you want to play Christian Grey in the movie?"

Interesting enough, James' query did get re-tweeted 1,547 times thus far. To top it off, many of her "Fifty Shades" admirers almost instantaneously posted their responses.

"@E_L_James :Only one man has the perfect look, voice, demeanor, and sexy level to play Christian...MATT BOMER! #Gorgeous #Perfection," wrote one fan.

Another one of the followers put her trust in James and her team by tweeting the following:

"I like Matt Bomer or Ian Somerhalder but I trust you and team50 will make the right choice."

Judging by the rest of the feedback that the author has received, it seems as though a notable actor is preferred. However, it's clearly not necessarily that an A-list actor would be needed to appease "Fifty Shades" lovers.

Other potential suitors that have been buzzed about include "Twilight's" Robert Pattinson, "Gangster Squad's" Ryan Gosling, and "Man of Steel's" Henry Cavill, among many other talented yet less-known actors.

In a recent web video interview with MSN, Pattinson was queried on whether he would ever consider playing the part of Grey in the racy flick.

"I am playing that part. I also wrote the book," he chuckled.

Cavill also acknowledged the prospect of playing the sexy CEO to Details.

"Whether that happens, that decision will be made at the time it has to be made. It would be a very different kind of thing than 'Man of Steel,' " he said.

While many "Fifty Shades" fanatics eagerly await the eventual results of the high profile casting process, only time will truly tell just who ends up landing the hunky part.
