One of the stars of The Fosters opened up on the Jude-Connor relationship and what it taught him.

Chatter On 'The Fosters' Father's Day Episode

Gavin MacIntosh, who plays Connor, spoke to The Huffington Post in Friday's report about the on-screen romance. He mentioned that it made him think deeper about same-sex relationships with more knowledge.

"I learn more and more and become more educated on these issues," MacIntosh said. "The show has taught me as a person so much about the struggles and also the positives that are going on regarding LGBTQ issues."

Jude and Connor's relationship delved into a lot of obstacles before they became official boyfriends. They had issues in their friendship with pressures of other people, but eventually they got to a point where they could make it about themselves only.

"It's amazing to see the impact that it has on people," MacIntosh said about the two characters. "The power of Connor and Jude's relationship just astonishes me."

The actor then explained why he feels there should be portrayals of couples like the two teen boys on television.

"It's very important for LGBTQ relationships to be portrayed on TV because you know there are kids that their parents may not support them or their parents may not accept them for who they are," the 16-year-old said. "They think they put labels on someone and say that they're gay or they're straight or whatever they are. But the fact is it really doesn't matter."

The Fosters airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
