Meek Mill And Drake Beef: Funkmaster & Ebro Laugh Off Petition To Get Flex To Leave Hot 97, 'Nobody Is Afraid Of Y'all' [VIDEO]
Hot 97 icon Funkmaster Flex claps back after a petition was launched to get him booted from the New York City radio station amid all of the Meek Mill & Drake beef.
He definitely seems unbothered and even posted links to articles that reveal the petition as well as Twitter going in on him after they believe he broke a promise to them.
Funkmaster Flex vowed to listeners and fans earlier this week that he would be the first to unveil Meek’s response to "Charged Up", Drake’s diss song against him that made waves and went viral over the weekend. Well, when Flex didn’t deliver on his promise because he said he never received anything from Meek, fans went ballistic. They went as far as launching a petition on change.org to have Flex “step down" from his role. Funkmaster Flex also posted some of the funniest memes going around about him on Instagram.
The petition reads in part: “There has always been word that DJ Funk Funkmaster Flex was not someone who was willing to give up his position at Hot 97 for his slot. Despite constant critiques from everywhere for the old man to step down, and give the younger people a shot he decided to stay where he was…Today was the last straw. This fraud of a DJ decided to lie to everyone for ratings and downloads of the Hot 97 app that Meek Mill would be on tonight to release a diss track to Drake to no avail. No one has given Hot 97 two hours of listening time since Biggie was alive, and it’s a crime to have that taken from us. The people have spoken…” It has gotten 9,203 signatures so far. Hot 97’s rival Power 105.1 also took advantage of the ordeal and named Flex Donkey of The Day.
Meek Mill even got in on the fun and shared a fake diss song called "Beautiful Nightmares" on Twitter. But Flex does have one person on his side, his colleague Ebro who hosts Ebro In The Morning on the station. He said, “We specifically were told that Meek Mill had something for Flex last night, and we waited. And waited. And now y’all can go as hard as y'all want to go at Flex. We been through many wars here at Hot 97 before, nobody is afraid of y’all. Matter of fact, yo Breakfast Club, Imma deal with y’all later. Your whole existence is based on coming on Hot 97 and talking about people here. Your entire existence. I don’t care how much money iHeart put behind y’all.”
Flex posted a photo on Instagram that revealed he had a perfectly good explanation on why he didn’t deliver the Meek track.
