Film critics are blasting Pixels, making this yet another poorly reviewed Adam Sandler flick.

Netflix Movies Added In August Include 'The Hurt Locker', 'OUAT' Season 4 & More

The reviews are in for Pixels, and the overall outlook is not good at all. With a measly 18 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, it's clear that most film critics think the film is indeed rotten.

The film stars Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage as childhood friends who fight aliens who are attacking Earth with various '80s video game characters.

Here are some of the most biting criticisms from various publications.

"A movie like Pixels should be stupid and energetic, not stupid and lifeless," says Vulture.

"The 'characters' vary from slightly annoying to unbearable - this is a film in which a viewer can be forgiven for rooting for the old video game icons to annihilate humanity," says ReelViews. "God help us if the best savior we can muster is Sandler."

"Every joke is lame, every special effect unspecial," says the New York Daily News.

IndieWIRE was not amused by how bad Pixels was. Instead, they simply found the film dismissible.

"As a bad movie, Pixels is extremely dismissible. The ways in which it is bad are hardly fun to pick apart, a la "The Room;" instead, they're just banal - the deeply predictable plot, the unfunny jokes, the constant low-level sexism and occasional spikes of racism that permeate the story," they say.

Meanwhile, Variety just can't put up with Sandler's presence as a comedic movie star any longer.

"Where Sandler once exulted in our outrage (and frequently, our laughter), he now seems barely capable of mustering enough effort to carry a scene, let alone advance to level 255 of 'Galaga,'" they say. "There's no joy left in his shtick."

While the film didn't bomb completely, it also cannot be considered a hit by any stretch of the imagination. Pixels opened to $24 million. Since most movies decrease in revenue as it stays in theaters, it may be difficult for the comedy to reach its $88 million budget, at least domestically.

Pixels is in theaters nationwide now.
