Duchess Of Cambridge Pregnant! First Royal Baby Details
Kate Middleton is confirmed to be pregnant with her first child with Prince William, according to St. James' Palace on Monday.
The announcement followed perhaps the worst-kept secret in England, since rumors have been circulating for some time now that the Duchess of Cambridge, 30, is pregnant.
"Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby," the palace said in a statement on Monday morning. "The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news."
No details were mentioned regarding the sex of the baby or a possible due date, though pregnancy announcements are ususally made after the first trimester.
E! New reported that Middleton was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London on Monday due to "suffering hyperemesis gravidarum," which is morning sickness.
The palace also said, "As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter."
The new baby, whether boy or girl, could be monarch one day since he or she is the first-born to Prince William, who is second to the throne after his father Prince Charles. The child will be next in line behind Prince William in the line of succession.
Middleton and Prince William, 30, married in April 2011 in a lavish affair that was attended by celebrities, royals, and watched on television by viewers all over the world.
Some celebrities took to Twitter to congratulate the happy couple. Khloe Kardashian Odom wrote,"Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!! A royal baby!!! :) awwww so sweet."
