Kim Richards continues to struggle with the passing of her ex-husband, Monty Brinson, just under a week after his tragic death.

According to a new report, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who was extremely close to Brinson in the years leading up to his death, is struggling to cope with the loss of her oldest daughter's father.

"It's Kim who is taking it the hardest," a source told PEOPLE Magazine on Friday. "Monty knew what was happening. He was prepared."

Following Brinson's death last Sunday, the Richards and Hilton families came together for a wake on Thursday.

"The wake was very sad and emotional. Everyone is just trying to be there for [Kim] and hope that she stays safe," a source explained.

As fans of the Bravo series have seen, Richards suffered a relapse last year, and while she eventually checked into rehab and got clean, her future sobriety isn't guaranteed.

"She is sober right now which is the best thing she can," the source explained. "If [Kim] didn't have her kids, everyone is worried what would happen. She is incredibly fragile right now, and with her history, it's a scary place for her to be."

"Kyle is supporting Kim throughout all of this," a close family insider continued to PEOPLE Magazine in a second report. "No matter how strained their relationship, Kim and Kyle are sisters and family is more important than anything. Nothing else matters when a tragedy like this happens."
