‘Days of Our Lives’ News: Chandler Massey Quitting Emmy Winning Role? [VIDEO]
Chandler Massey, one of the young stars of Days of Our Lives, announced on June 16 that he may leave the show that has helped him to win two Daytime Emmy's.
Massey won his consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor for his role Will Horton on the NBC drama. After his win on Sunday, the 22-year-old actor said that he could possibly leave the show at the end of his contract this December. Massey said that he could return to school. The actor was a first year student at UCLA when he was cast as Will on DAYS.
"I think when this is up, I want to go back to school - I want to graduate," he said. "I want to have a degree. I just want to keep looking forward."
Since his role on the soap opera, Massey has opted to continue his education through the UCLA Extension program. He has been taking general education courses, approximately one each quarter. He is majoring in Mandarin Chinese but has given thought to adding International Business as one of his majors. However, he did allow that his mind was not completely set on leaving the show.
"I'm still not 100 percent decided," he said.
During his acceptance speech earlier in the evening, Massey expressed his joy over his win. He did not indicate any intention to leave the show.
"Hi. First of all, I'd like to thank everyone at NBC and Corday and the amazing cast and crew and the writers and producers. All the credit goes to you guys," Massey said. "Also, this isn't fair, because I have the best actor to work alongside and that's Freddie Smith. Freddie, you are phenomenal. You are absolutely incredible and it's my privilege to work with you."
