Rumors have been flying for months regarding the possible return of the Doctors greatest Time Lord nemesis, and now reports are claiming that the baddie will return in the season finale.

The latest speculation comes courtesy of The Daily Star, which claims that a new Master will join the cast next month. However, the site was unable to properly recount the character's fate at the conclusion of "The End of Time: Part 2", and therefore their rumor must be taken with a grain of salt.

The Master was last seen in the post-season 4 special, and his battle with the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) ultimately ended when he was zapped back to a doomed Gallifrey while fighting with Rassilon (Timothy Dalton). Directed by Rachel Talalay (Tank Girl) and penned by Steven Moffat ("The Day of the Doctor," "The Time of the Doctor"), the season finale is slated to encompass both the 11th and 12th episodes.
