The second season of True Detective hasn't even started and already Colin Farrell is on the rise.

Is Matthew McConaughey Planning A 'True Detective' Cameo For 2015?

On Sunday the Daily Mail reported that the 38-year-old has a sultry new ad for Dolce Gabbana.

With slicked back hair and a bit of scruff on his face, the Irish actor posed in a white shirt for the Inenso fragrance ad.

Will 'True Detective' Golden Globe Loss Hurt Viewership For New Season?

While Farrell has long been known for possessing an edgy yet charming charisma on camera, the ad is a complete turnaround from how he'll look on True Detective. Playing compromised Detective Ray Velcoro, Farrell will be sporting long gray-streaked hair and a defined mustache. He even seems to have gained a little weight for the role.

This new gig with Dolce Gabbana could be the first sign that Farrell is on the rise, revitalizing his career through Detective as Matthew McConaughey (Rust Cohle) did in season 1. Farrell's recent string of action flicks, including 2012's Total Recall and 2013's Dead Man Down, haven't exactly done well with critics and audiences. With an acclaimed show like True Detective, however, the actor just might be able to turn things around.

The show's upcoming season will follow the murder of a city manager in California. Starring alongside Farrell are Vince Vaughn (career criminal Frank Semyon), Rachel McAdams (Detective Ani Bezzerides) and Taylor Kitsch (Officer Paul Woodrugh).

True Detective will return on HBO for a second season mid-2015.
