The Fresno Bee reported the news of Whitney's death on Sunday. The 85-year-old's son Jonathan Dweck confirmed the news that his mother passed away in her home in Coarsegold, Calif.
Her last gig was in 2011, which wasStar Trek related. It was a short video called Spacelift: Transporting Trek Into the 21st Century, according to her IMDb page.
She suffered from addiction, but overcame it and helped others overcome their own issues with addiction.
Her son commented that her later years were served helping others obtain and maintain sobriety.
"She continued her fellowship work in Fresno and Madera County, completely dedicating her life to helping herself and others find daily sobriety and a higher power out of addiction," he said.
It was at a Star Trek convention where she let fans know of her struggles.
"When I told the fans I was an alcoholic, they all applauded. When I told them I had given myself to a higher power, they cheered again," Whitney told The Bee's Rick Bentley in 2013, adding, "I'm in a great place because I've gone full circle."
