NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey might have had their differences in the latest season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Bravo, but Bailey confessed she still had compassion for Leakes when she had a breakdown about her estranged mother on the show’s reunion special.

Bailey not only helped comfort Leakes during her emotional moment, but told Bravo TV Monday that despite their recent feud, she cares about Leakes. (Leakes walked off the set after Kenya Moore brought up Leakes’s mother, who abandoned Leakes when she was younger).

“My natural reaction when NeNe broke down and walked off was to go to her and hug her.

"I had no idea how I would be received or what I would say to her, but my heart said go after her, and I did. NeNe and I were friends; real friends that spent time together outside of the show. Regardless of what the status of the friendship was during the reunion, I never want to see her hurt.”

Bailey added that she joined Porsha Williams and Phaedra Parks when they followed Leakes out to the dressing room because she felt “it was the right thing to do.”

She didn’t leave any time to second guess what her “spirit” told her to do.

It’s not clear where Bailey and Leakes stand right now, but Bailey said she is “in a better place” since taping the reunion.

She added that she was still willing to reconcile with Leakes.
